Srinagar, Jun 09 (KNO): Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Tuesday said the administration is ensuring foolproof arrangements for Muharram so that devotees do not face any inconvenience during the religious processions.
Speaking during his visit to Zadibal, the Deputy CM, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said the inspection was aimed at reviewing ground-level arrangements and ensuring that all basic civic facilities are in place ahead of the observance.
Choudhary said the administration is working in close coordination with local committees and representatives to ensure smooth conduct of Muharram-related activities.
"Special focus is being laid on uninterrupted essential services, including electricity, water supply, road connectivity and sanitation," he said.
The Deputy CM further expressed gratitude to local stakeholders, including MLA Tanvi Sadiq and Muharram committees, for their cooperation in streamlining preparations and facilitating ground-level coordination with authorities.
Such coordination, he said, plays a key role in ensuring peaceful and well-managed religious observances.
Responding to a query, Choudhary termed the Zojila Tunnel project a “major infrastructure milestone”, saying it will significantly improve all-weather connectivity between Kashmir and Ladakh.
"Such projects reduce travel hardships and benefit residents, tourism, and strategic movement, adding that further connectivity projects like the Mughal Road tunnel are also being pursued," he said—(KNO)
